Helps reduce the duration and intensity of colds and flu by assisting in the treatment of bacterial and viral infections. It also protects against infection during high risk times (eg. during winter). It works in 4 ways: antibacterial, antiviral, boosts immune system and alleviates symptoms. Elderberry and olive leaf penetrate viral cells and suppress enzymes responsible for viral replication. Ginseng stimulates the immune response and reduces symptoms of fever and sinusitis. Propolis has antibacterial effects. Andrographis is a herbal extract that reduces the duration and symptoms of colds and flu. Vitamin C and zinc are antioxidants required for healthy immune function.

Pharmacological Action

Olive leaf has been shown to be effective in treating some bacterial, fungal and viral infections. Panax ginseng may be protective against some bacterial infections due to early suppression of acute inflammatory responses and later enhancement of macrophage activity. Propolis contains flavonoids which are thought to be responsible for antimicrobial effects. Research indicates that andrographis has inhibitory activity of proprotein convertases, which are essential for processing protein precursors into bioactive mature products involved in bacterial and viral infections. Elderberry extract has both antiviral and immunomodulating effects. Vitamin C has been shown to increase lymphocyte mobility. Vitamin C may also exert immunostimulant effects via increases in phagocyte function, leukocyte mobility, and possibly antibody and interferon production. In human research, zinc decreased levels of the suppressor T cells and increased the ratio of helper to suppressor cells.
